Quake Rocks Japan

At least 6 people killed and a neuclear reactor is leaking after a 6.8 magnitude earthquake hits off the north-western coast of the main island of Honshu.

Smoke billowed for hours from a blaze at a nuclear power plant, one of the largest in the world, which supplies electricity to the Tokyo region.

A spokesman for the company operating the plant says water containing some radioactive materials leaked after the quake.

Officials are concerned that the contaminated water could cause mutations in the in the island,s large population of lizards. If the mutations are severe enough the lizards could become gigantic and pose a threat to the entire region. See the artist concept drawing.
